Insurance update

Yeah, ok. It’s been utter hell. I’ve been turned down by several companies at this point. My last hope is a “Traditional Indemnity” policy with Independence Blue Cross, hereinafter known as “IBX”. This plan should accept proof of previous “creditable coverage” as they call it – under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) – and waive the pre-existing condition exclusion. If Blue Cross doesn’t accept me, I be X‘d.

The policy is going to cost over a week’s pay every month. If I were on SSDI I wouldn’t be able to afford it or my meds.

IBX is my last commercial option. I’ll know next week whether I’m covered. If not, well, the Dept of Labor says I only have 63 days to get a plan under HIPAA. Time is running out.

If not, I’ll have to take a couple of days off work walking around town trying to get into county public assistance. That won’t work unless I also lose my job, I suspect.

I’ve been anxious over this for days. The stress – fear that I’ll have to go off meds – makes it very difficult to function.

Just got to hang in there for a few more days until this is resolved.

Ok, back under my bridge.

Update:
The bill arrived today, a week late, and the payment is due next week. They didn’t leave me any time to spare.
Better, it is for the wrong type of policy. I went back and rechecked my application and everything there looks good. It is obvious that if I pay for what I know is the wrong policy, I’ll be committing fraud. But if I don’t put a check in the mail tomorrow the policy will be cancelled and I’ll have to start the process all over.
If I were paranoid I’d think they did this to buy time. With the holidays coming up it is very possible that a new application will be delayed in the mail, or that processing will be delayed at IBX.
I’m getting worryied.
